Data Quality

GlobeScan ensures the highest research standards for data management and quality control practices and protocols. GlobeScan adheres to the professional market research standards of ESOMAR.

ESOMAR is the organization for enabling better research into markets, consumers and societies. With 4,000 members in 100 countries, ESOMAR creates and manages industry-specific conferences and publications, while advocating self-regulation and the worldwide code of practice.

All of our research partners abide by the requirements of the ICC/ESOMAR International Code. Additionally, GlobeScan and its research partners around the world adhere to the requirements of relevant national data protection legislation.

General Population Sample Quality

Samples reflect the distribution of age, gender, level of education and socioeconomic status, according to the latest census information for the areas sampled. To ensure complete representation of general population opinion, sample deviations from population statistics are weighted back to census data.

Questionnaire Control

Questionnaires are developed in English and approved by clients prior to translation to local languages. Research partners in each country to be surveyed translate the questionnaire from English into their language and send it back to GlobeScan.

Using our network of independent translators, each translated questionnaire is back-checked to verify accuracy and consistency prior to being approved for fieldwork.

Fieldwork

GlobeScan monitors processes in each country where the survey is fielded. Our research partners complete weekly progress reports and submit them for review and corrective action if required.

Interview verification is conducted by experienced supervisors in each country, and in some cases (e.g. elite interviews) by GlobeScan.

Data Control Process

To ensure data quality measures are consistently applied, edit and re-entry specifications have been standardized across our research partner network.

Data cleaning is conducted centrally by GlobeScan, in consultation with our research partners. All data is reconciled to field specifications and weight variables generated as required.
